The tech job search that kept recruiters out, then signed off in 2016.

A New York search engine for tech jobs that filtered out recruiters and staffing agencies ran from 2015 and had replaced itself with a farewell notice by 4 September 2016.

TechJobs.me's listing, captured in February 2016 from New York, promised to help "developers and other tech specialists find the perfect job." It gathered posts from many job boards and left out those "by staffing agencies, recruiters, outsourcers, 'business process specialists,' and certain large companies whose job ads are ubiquitous." Searches could target a [tag], a {company} or an "exact phrase".

The service first shows up in the archive in June 2015. Its about page that September said it drew on "over a dozen job boards", that recruiters who slipped past its filters "are tracked down, and blacklisted", and that it skipped many blue-chip employers: "Everybody knows that IBM and Microsoft exist, and that they hire programmers." In October 2015 users could choose among 20 US locations, from Atlanta to Washington. By March 2016 the search had radius filters and an advanced search, and reported 1,113 records found.

The job search was still running on 31 July 2016. By 4 September 2016 the address showed a short notice instead:

> Techjobs.me is no more. Having given the matter due consideration, we've decided to dedicate our time and resources to other ventures. > > It's been a pleasure to serve you, and we appreciate all of the correspondence you've sent us. Best of luck to all of you, and we hope to see you again in the future. Thank you!

The same words were still there in April 2017. AlternativeTo, which added the site in June 2015, marks it discontinued and quotes the announcement. No source found names the people behind the service. Today techjobs.me shows only its own domain name.
