Receiptful turned shop receipts into marketing and sold as Conversio.
A 2014 API for marketing-laden e-commerce receipts, listed from London, that rebranded as Conversio in 2016 and was bought by Campaign Monitor's parent CM Group in August 2019.
Receiptful listed itself on Stompstart on 11 December 2014, from London, as "Your Supercharged Email Receipts." It was an API for sending designed e-mail receipts that carried targeted, personalised marketing messages and up-sells, meant to raise each customer's lifetime value. It connected to Shopify and WooCommerce, the listing said, with Stripe to follow. The screenshot uploaded with it shows an editor titled "My Upsells" previewing a coupon for "15% off your next purchase."
Its founder was Adii Pienaar, who had co-founded WooThemes in 2008, according to Wikipedia. In a June 2015 post he wrote that Receiptful had 3,000 users and had sent more than 100,000 receipts by the time it closed its seed round in late March, and named the investor Vinny Lingham as one of its first backers.
The product grew beyond receipts, and in 2016 Receiptful was rebranded as Conversio, Ventureburn reported. In August 2019 CM Group, the parent of Campaign Monitor, acquired Conversio for undisclosed terms, MarTech reported; Ventureburn gave 5 August as the date the sale concluded and put the team at 12 people. On 8 October Campaign Monitor introduced the product as CM Commerce, integrated with Shopify, BigCommerce and WooCommerce, with ready-made automations that still included personalised receipts. That month Pienaar called the sale "life-changing" on the Startups for the Rest of Us podcast.
The receiptful.com domain no longer resolves, and cm-commerce.com now forwards to Campaign Monitor's main site.
