The image-to-HTML email builder that Venngage bought in 2021.
A London and Barcelona tool that turned an image of an email design into HTML carried on after its London company was dissolved, relaunched as a subscription under a new Barcelona team, and was sold to Venngage in early 2021.
Mailmalade's Stompstart listing, added in November 2014 and captured in March 2015, promised "inbox-friendly HTML emails" built from a user's own design files, with no coding. It worked in three steps: upload the design as an image, crop it and add links and other HTML attributes, then export the email to Campaign Monitor or MailChimp or download it as a zip file. The listing placed the company in London and said the team was "dually based in London and Barcelona." Mailmalade launched on Product Hunt on 1 December 2014 and finished fifth product of the day.
The site's terms of use named Mailmalade Ltd as the company that "owns and operates Mailmalade.com", and Companies House records Mailmalade Ltd, a London IT services company incorporated in November 2013, as dissolved on 3 January 2017. The product carried on. On 14 November 2017 the Mailmalade blog announced that "A new team from Barcelona has now taken over the project," and on 12 December it introduced a redesign with mobile versions of each email, adding: "Mailmalade is now a subscription based service." The posts carried no names, only a team signature. By June 2019 mailmalade.com priced its cheapest monthly plan at 19 euros for up to five emails a month.
On 22 March 2021 the Spanish software firm Creagia announced that the Canadian infographics company Venngage had bought Mailmalade in its entirety, in a transaction that became effective in early 2021. Creagia said it had founded and developed Mailmalade seven years earlier "with the close and invaluable collaboration of Marc, Xavi and Henry," and that the business had thousands of users. The sources do not say who made up the 2017 Barcelona team, or how Creagia related to the London company.
By September 2022 mailmalade.com read "Mailmalade is now part of Venngage's Newsletter Creator," under a Venngage copyright. The domain no longer resolves. Venngage's Newsletter Creator page offers to "export to HTML for a clickable email campaign" and does not mention Mailmalade.
