The Toronto SEC-filings search engine that became CapEdge.
A Toronto tool for searching and comparing SEC filings, seen on Stompstart in 2019, that made its paid tier free in 2021 and was bought by FINSIGHT and renamed CapEdge in 2022.
Docoh's only surviving Stompstart trace is a directory card, saved by the Wayback Machine on 10 December 2019 on the page of startups tagged for investors. It offered a way to "easily search, compare and analyze millions of SEC filings for better investments," set out as three steps. The first was idea research with what it called "the most powerful SEC filing search." The second was due diligence, with "filing diffs, sentiment analysis, added/removed words and more." The card cut off before step three. It gave Toronto as home and marked the product as public.
On 25 October 2021, Docoh announced that everything in its paid Pro subscription was now free, including historical financial statements, institutional holdings, insider trades, real-time alerts on new filings and automatic redlining of changes in company filings. Chief executive Dan Zambonini tied the move to a surge of interest from everyday investors over the previous year. The company said it was founded in 2019, had more than 15,000 registered users, and aimed "to reduce wealth inequality through fairer access to financial information."
A year later it was sold. On 5 October 2022, FINSIGHT, a capital markets technology company, announced that it had acquired Docoh from Eighty-Five Technologies, the Toronto company that created it. Terms were not disclosed, and the release dated Eighty-Five Technologies to 2018, a year before the founding date Docoh had given.
CapEdge's help center says Finsight Group renamed Docoh as CapEdge, and a notice there from July 2025 said the product's front end and back end were being rewritten, with the work expected to run through the first quarter of 2026. FINSIGHT still lists CapEdge as a free tool for searching millions of SEC filings and earnings transcripts, with more than 20 years of history.
