The Milwaukee crypto trading screen that a stock brokerage's crypto affiliate bought.
A Milwaukee multi-exchange crypto trading dashboard listed in private beta at the end of 2014, acquired by Lightspeed Crypto, an affiliate of a US brokerage group, in August 2021.
Coinigy went on Stompstart at the end of December 2014 as a private beta from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, offering "Professional Tools for Cryptocurrency Traders." The idea was one screen for many exchanges. Users could "deposit funds, monitor balances, place trades, and analyze trends on all the major cryptocurrency exchanges through one interface," and the listing promised to make it "dead simple for anyone to open a brokerage account." The company said it was already "crunching over 3.5 million trades per week across 813 markets." Its screenshot showed a bitcoin-to-dollar candlestick chart beside an order book. The Wayback Machine saved the page in March 2015.
In August 2021 a buyer arrived from conventional brokerage. On 24 August, Lightspeed Crypto announced, in a release Coinigy posted on its blog, that it had acquired Coinigy. Lightspeed Crypto is an affiliate of Lightspeed Financial Services Group, an equities, options and futures broker for active and professional traders based in Morristown, New Jersey. Terms were not disclosed. The announcement named Robert Borden as chief executive and William Kehl as president, both co-founders, and said Coinigy connected to more than 45 exchanges, including Binance, Coinbase Pro and Kraken, across 4,000 markets and currency pairs. It gave 2015 as Coinigy's founding year, although the listing had gone up in December 2014. Lightspeed said it planned to offer crypto trading to its existing customers later that year.
The coinigy.com site now loads as "Your all-in-one Digital Wallet portfolio management platform." Its Insights blog was still publishing weekly market posts in September 2026, the latest dated 21 September.
