The Melbourne drone-hire marketplace that closed in 2020.
A Melbourne marketplace where customers posted a brief and collected quotes from commercial drone operators, which ran from 2015 until a farewell from its team replaced the site between August and late September 2020.
ArcadiaSky's Stompstart card, saved under the Drone and UAV tags in September 2019, offered "a marketplace for customers to hire drone services so that anyone can benefit from the technology." Tagged Melbourne, Australia, it said the platform worked "on the tried and tested job brief & quote model, managed through an online portal."
The marketplace was older than that capture. In November 2015 FlightGlobal reported that ArcadiaSky, a Melbourne start-up, was "seeking to connect commercial unmanned air vehicle operators with those requiring aerial services."
The site worked the way the listing described. Archived in February 2017, arcadiasky.com asked customers to create a brief, choose a pilot and collect free quotes, for jobs ranging from weddings and real estate to construction and mining. It said it checked that every operator was certified and legally entitled to operate commercially in its listed country. In August 2020 the same page, its footer now reading "© 2020 ArcadiaSky," was still taking quote requests and linking to operators by city across Australia, the United Kingdom and the United States.
By 27 September 2020 the home page had been replaced by a farewell headed "That's all folks." It read: "Thank you for your support over the last 5 years, however due to the current economic situation ArcadiaSky has closed operations. Any subscriptions have been automatically stopped." It was signed "Happy flying, the ArcadiaSky team."
The closure rests on that notice. On 29 September 2026, arcadiasky.com loaded as a blank page.
