“A local, social events feed.”

Populace was created because we believe social media should be social. Populace gives the user a feed of everything that is happening around them. It's collaborative; users can put up events and create a map of what's happening in their local community. Populace aims to change the way social media is used, providing a tool for social interactions. Typically social media content is littered with cat videos, photos of your friends dinner and an opinion on any and every issue going. Our use of social media seems to contradict it’s name. Populace encourages users to take pride in what is going on around them. To showcase the great events their city has to offer. It's not constrained by who is friends with who or whether or not you're invited. Populace wants to be the catalyst to your social interaction, not the end product.

In our words: The listing described Populace as a collaborative local events feed: users posted events to build a map of what was happening in their community, open to anyone rather than limited by friendships or invitations.
